Morgan Stanley Broker Robert Newman Consents to FINRA Fine and Suspension

Robert Newman (Robert N. Newman) has consented to a sanction from FINRA (the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority). FINRA is a non-governmental regulator of securities firms that focuses on investor protection and market integrity through effective and efficient regulation of the securities industry. In May 2018 Robert Newman was fined $5,000 and suspended for 10 days from practicing as a broker. Robert Newman worked for Morgan Stanley in Los Angeles, California from March 2005 to the present.

FINRA alleges that Robert Newman engaged in the following misconduct: exercised discretion in one customer’s account without prior written authorization from the customer or from the firm. This conduct violates NASD Rule 2510(b) and FINRA Rule 2010.

Robert Newman voluntarily resigned from UBS Financial Services in March 2005 following allegations that he did not provide consistent answers during an internal review of his actions.

Robert Newman has been the subject of at least 2 customer disputes.
