Former Huntington Investments broker Jeffrey Robert Conklin consents to temporary suspension by FINRA for “check kiting”

Jeffrey Conklin (Jeffrey Robert Conklin) has consented to a sanction from FINRA (the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority). FINRA is a non-governmental regulator of securities firms that focuses on investor protection and market integrity through effective and efficient regulation of the securities industry. The attorneys of Fishman Haygood Investment Fraud Lawyers are currently investigating possible claims against stockbroker Jeffrey Conklin.

In July 2018 Jeffrey Conklin was suspended by FINRA for six months from practicing as a broker. Jeffrey Conklin worked for Huntington Investment Company in Cleveland, Ohio from 2010 to 2016.

FINRA alleges that Jeffrey Conklin engaged in the following misconduct: a pattern of “check kiting” between August and November of 2016.

“Check kiting” typically refers to the practice of writing checks between accounts with insufficient funds to create the appearance of a higher account balance.  Conklin was found to be engaging in check kiting involving both his personal and business accounts, writing a series of at least 11 checks totaling over $43,000 without sufficient funds. FINRA has sanctioned Conklin for this behavior whether it was intentional, or reckless negligence. Conklin has neither admitted nor denied these findings. FINRA reports that Conklin has repaid all amounts owed to the bank and has received an additional $5000 penalty for his actions.
